Please join us for a free, one day regional conference on Disability and the Teaching of Writing on Friday, April 20th at the Howard Gittis Student Center, Temple University. Keynote speakers include Brenda Brueggemann and Cynthia Lewiecki-Wilson, editors of Disability and the Teaching of Writing. Lunch is provided and will feature poetry readings from contributors of Beauty is a Verb: The New Poetry of Disability.

This event is co-sponsored by Temple University’s Institute on Disability and the Philadelphia Writing Program Administrators, with support from the Temple University Department of English, The College of Liberal Arts, The First Year Writing Program and Bedford/St. Martin’s Press.

The day will conclude with a PWPA general meeting at 3:30.

And, on the evening prior to the conference, Cabrini will be hosting the kick-off event for the beautiful conference that our friends at Temple have planned for us.  This will be on Thursday, April 19th at 7:30pm the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.  Here we will be screening Every Speed, which is an experimental short documentary that explores able-bodied and disabled perspectives on body movement, transportation, and dependence.  We are delighted that the filmmakers will be present at this event for discussion.  We will also have food and refreshments at this event.  We hope this will be a nice social event to kick off our fellowship and discussion about disabilities and writing.

Please RSVP directly to Michelle Filling at filling@cabrini.edu so that we can gain an accurate head count for the dinner.  This RSVP is separate from registering for the conference.
